TRINITY UCC HOLDS PRAYER VIGIL IN SUPPORT OF REV. JANET MOORE, CHAPLAIN, ADVOCATE TRINITY HOSPITAL AND FAITHFUL MEMBER OF TRINITY UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST

MAY 4, 2005--Rev. Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr., Senior Pastor, Trinity UCC, and members of the congregation and community organizations and Pastors have organized a prayer vigil on behalf of fellow Trinity UCC member Rev. Janet Moore who works as a chaplain at Advocate Trinity Hospital. Rev. Moore has publicly spoken out in support of Advocate workers’ efforts to organize to address workers rights and patient care. Rev. Moore has received a reprimand in her record which is believed to be the result of her advocacy on behalf of workers’ rights to have a voice on their job.

Rev. Dr. Wright wrote to Advocate’s CEO, Jim Skogsberg, and asked the reprimand be removed from Rev. Moore’s record. Skogsberg has informed Rev. Wright he will look into the matter personally. However, the reprimand remains. Therefore, tomorrow at 3:00 p.m. at Advocate Trinity Hospital, Rev. Moore is scheduled in an arbitration hearing. The prayer vigil in support of Rev. Moore will begin at 2:30 p.m. outside of Advocate Trinity Hospital located at 2320 East 93rd Street in Chicago.

Rev. Wright responded to the discipline of Rev. Moore in his letter to Jim Skogsberg by stating, “Janet Moore is a woman of integrity. Janet Moore is a minister of the Gospel. Janet Moore has a sincere love for her patients. She is honest. She is straightforward and she takes her job very seriously. She does not see it as a job she sees it as a ministry!”

Tomorrow, pastors, people of faith and community organizations will join together in a prayer vigil to show support for Rev. Janet Moore and for all workers who desire justice for themselves and their patients
